About
What QRMaker is, why every code it makes is static and never expires, and who maintains the site.
QRMaker makes QR codes — links, Wi-Fi credentials, contact cards, emails, texts, phone numbers, map pins — and it makes them the honest way: the payload goes directly into the pattern, so the code is yours and it works for as long as the paper it is printed on survives.
Why it exists
Search for a QR generator and the first page is mostly subscription services that embed their redirect URL into “your” code, then bill you when it keeps working. A code you can’t outlive isn’t a code you own. QRMaker was built on the opposite premise — static codes only, generated entirely in your browser — plus the detail the quick tools skip: real Wi-Fi string escaping, genuine vCard 3.0 output, quiet-zone and contrast warnings that follow the actual spec, and a test-scan button that decodes the rendered image so you can watch the round trip succeed before you print.
What’s on the site
- The generator — eight payload types, size/quiet-zone/error-correction/colour controls, optional centre logo, PNG and SVG export.
- Wi-Fi codes, vCard contact codes and codes with logos — the three jobs people print most, each with its own notes.
- The scanner — decode any QR image locally, useful for checking a code before trusting it.
- Guides — static vs dynamic codes (why “free” codes expire) and print sizing (minimums, quiet zone, scan distance). Technical claims are traced on the sources page.
How it’s built and who runs it
The site is static files on Cloudflare’s edge. Encoding uses Nayuki’s MIT-licensed qrcodegen and decoding uses jsQR (Apache-2.0); both are vendored and run on your device — there is no QR backend, no account system, no code database. QRMaker is maintained by a small independent team building focused utility sites on the photopassport.online domain.
Something off — a code that won’t scan, a field that should exist, a spec we read wrong? Contact us; correctness reports go to the front of the queue.
